Installation

Where does the L5 PCM go in the Prius?

The L5 PCM is installed in the wheel well in the trunk of the Prius and the spare tire is removed. Click here to view the installation process.

Do you remove the Prius' original NiMH battery?

No. We do not remove or disable the original Prius battery. The original battery continues to operate in tandem with the L5 PCM while the L5 PCM has electric charge. When the L5 PCM is depleted, the Prius battery resumes operating alone as originally designed until the L5 PCM is recharged from an outlet.

Can I replace my current hybrid battery with your lithium ion battery?

No. The L5PCM does not replace the OEM battery. The L5 PCM is designed to act only as a supplemental battery for your existing hybrid system and not as a replacement for your OEM battery.

What should I do with my spare tire?

Do not leave you spare sitting loose in the trunk as this may be unsafe in the event of an accident. The spare tire should be removed from your vehicle.

How long will I need to leave my car at the Green CHIP dealer for module installation?
