If I don't have a hybrid vehicle, can I buy your product to make my gas vehicle a hybrid?

No. The Hymotion™ L5s are designed specifically to work with the existing Toyota Prius Hybrid platform.

Can I install this system myself?

No. Our Green CHIP (Certified Hymotion Installer Partner) dealers in select cities are exclusively authorized to perform the L5 installations. Initial installers will be located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Minneapolis and Washington DC.

Can my Toyota dealer or local mechanic install this product?

No. Only Green CHIP (Certified Hymotion Installer Partner) dealers are certified to install L5 modules in your vehicle.

How long will I need to leave my car at the dealer for module installation?

Installation typically takes just a few hours. However, you should plan on leaving your vehicle for a half day.

Can I replace my current hybrid battery with your lithium ion battery?

No. The Hymotion L5 is designed to act only as supplemental onboard energy storage for your existing hybrid system. The L5 does not replace the OEM battery. After converting your hybrid into a Hymotion PHEV, when you plug in your car, you are charging the newly installed L5 battery. The L5 battery drains while you drive, assisting the gas engine, often times replacing engine use entirely! Once the L5 battery is depleted, your hybrid reverts to the standard Prius mode of operation, switching between the gas engine and OEM battery.
