A123 Systems displays latest technologies and developments at The Battery Show Europe
This event is Europe’s premier trade fair and conference dedicated to battery technologies and electric/hybrid vehicle innovation, held annually at Stuttgart’s Messe from June 3–5, 2025. With over 1,100 exhibitors and more than 21,000 professionals attending – including technical leaders, decision-makers, and global brands – it’s a hub for networking, business generation, and cutting-edge market insights. Topics like sustainability, supply‑chain resilience, energy storage, and EU regulations are explored in depth through expert-led sessions.

We had the pleasure of engaging in many constructive and insightful conversations with customers, prospects, industry peers and potential collaborators and we saw a high level of interest in our technologies. Having displayed a selection of our cell and module portfolio, the semi-solid-state battery concept, which we showcased for the first time, drew a lot of attention. Many visitors were eager to learn more about its enhanced safety profile, energy density, and potential to redefine next-generation energy storage.
Semi-solid-state batteries were also discussed during a panel session being held at the Castrol booth. The panel focused on the topic of “Future of Battery Technologies and Advanced Thermal Management” and addressed the challenges and opportunities ahead, from thermal innovation to sustainable performance.
Zixi Wang, Vice President of Global Sales & Product Strategy, explained, why semi-solid-state batteries have the potential of being a real game changer and may soon outshine Cell-to-Pack (CTP) and Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) approaches.

Two compelling reasons are:
1. Higher energy density: Semi-solid-state batteries offer up to 350 Wh/kg at cell level and 250 Wh/kg at pack level.
2. Superior serviceability: Unlike CTP and CTC architectures, which often require replacing the entire battery in the event of a single cell failure, semi-solid designs offer greater modularity and maintainability – a huge cost-saver.

Passenger and commercial vehicles are set to benefit the most from these advancements.
