A123 Systems, LLC is hiring a Sr. Program Manager to join the Novi, MI team.

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for defining and managing the technical, timing and budget of multiple projects while being the primary interface between customer and the internal engineering and management teams for manufacture of lithium batteries. The Senior Program Manager reports to the Director of Program Management.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage global production programs and coordinate activities within international teams.
• Own customer communication for all program related topics as main point of contact.
• Manage all internal and/or external customer deliverables.
• Provide leadership to a matrixed, cross-functional team.
• Manage program budget and support piece price targets.
• Document and track compliance to customer’s technical, commercial and regulatory requirements along with developing solutions to address any/all identified gaps.
• Develop and maintain primary project timelines.
• Provide regular project status reports to customer as well as internal senior management.
• Co-lead development, sourcing and management of key suppliers.
• Drive towards rapid identification and resolution of any and all engineering related performance, cost, and timing issues, regardless of where the issue originates (customer, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply base, etc.
• Provide support to internal sales within an international organization for development of labor, material, production cost, and profit margin.

Fully take charge of new products quality planning and quality developing activities in APQP to smoothly transfer to SOP.

· Responsible for quality planning of new products development phase

· Responsible for quality assurance plan of new program, relocation program, new product and major CI programs and keep continual improvement;

· Involves into design review and process review, DFMA review to ensure quality of product development and process development meet customer expectations and specifications;

· Involves into each physical builds during APQP phases to record all open issues and drive problem solving;

· Responsible for MSA and process capability study, control plan, inspection instruction and visual aids readiness

· Responsible for PPAP documents preparation, audit and submission to customer base on required timeline;

Material requirement planning &control in terms of MPS. Tracking material status and manage material delivery plan. Safety stock setting & inventory control in a reasonable level.

· According to the production plan, summarize the material requirement, combined with the inventory, purchasing cycle and other information, make the raw material procurement plan

· Get the approval for purchasing request, and place order to supplier

· Comparison of the delivery plan and the actual arrival, check the arrival of the situation and changes in the warehouse, to ensure the timely supply of materials, reasonable control inventory.

· Check the inventory every week, regularly check the arrival of the situation, and urge the buyer according to the procurement plan timely delivery.

· Check consumption of production ,timely understanding of the abnormal situation, coordination and adjustment of supplier delivery plans.

· Regularly review E&O material and the material close to quality guarantee period

· assist the planning supervisor, collect all kinds of information related to the material, to ensure the smooth progress of the work

Responsible for manufacture process and machine maintenance, analysis and improvement. Devoted to lead on-site problem solving and continuous optimization.

· Manufacturing process setup and improvement

· Process monitoring, maintenance and abnormal issue handling through 8D problem solving methods

· Responsible for WI/OI, FMEA compiling, training, modification and improvement.

· Lead the continuous process improvement opportunities and taking action to implement them using the appropriate tools / processes; i.e., DOE, PFMEA, TPC, EC

· AOS improvement, improve product FPY, CPK and reduce the cost, etc.

· Equipment tooling/fixture optimization

This position will be responsible for the development of high safety and the next generation of separator. This position will be mainly responsible for developing function coating materials. 

· Develop safety separator for high energy and power density project;

· Research the hot pressing process for the PVDF or related coating separator;

· Develop new coating technology independently;

· Explore new test methods for separator and build a separator analysis database;

· Provide support for other project about the separator related problems;

· Develop and evaluating the compatibility of separator in Li-ion battery;

Assist the principle cell engineer to lead chemical or mechanical design, and complete the development of cell sample build, performance verification, data analysis and so on.

· Assist principle cell engineer to develop, review and verify chemistry or mechanical design based on customer or relevant department;

· Solve process/quality/cost/sourcing issues in cell trial-run or production;

· Lab report, test data and experiment process review, file the design drawings and technical texts according to the process;

· Patent declaration;

· Assist principle engineer for team building and training;

· Complete the tasks assigned by the superiors.
